Maryon McCann

Hello! My name is Maryon McCann and I am a graphic design graduate and artist.

Growing up in a small town in the Ottawa Valley, I spent most of my time exploring various art mediums. I was always fascinated by how visuals can evoke emotion, tell stories, and transform ordinary everyday things into something meaningful. From a young age, creativity shaped my world, and I have always dreamed of turning my love for art into a fulfilling career in design.

I find inspiration in life’s simple moments—the everyday surroundings, the way people interact, the stories we share, and those small instances that make life rich and meaningful. These moments are a constant source of motivation for my creativity. I am also grateful for my supportive, close-knit family, who encouraged me to explore my artistic endeavours from an early age. Their influence, along with the beauty of nature and the world around me, continues to shape the way I approach design.

Over the years, I have explored multiple artistic mediums—from sketching and painting to photography and digital design. Each medium has taught me something valuable and helped me grow as both an artist and a designer. While traditional art will always have a special place in my heart, I am drawn to the challenge of merging creativity with technology to bring ideas to life in innovative ways. I am constantly amazed by the endless potential that technology offers to push the boundaries of design.

My formal education in graphic design has equipped me with a wide range of skills and knowledge. I have developed expertise in various design areas, including motion graphics, photography, layout design, digital illustration, and branding—fields I hope to continue exploring as I build my professional career. My schooling has also deepened my appreciation for the role design plays in communication. I have learned that design is not only about making things look good; it is about creating experiences that resonate with people, convey messages clearly, and evoke emotion. This has been one of the most valuable lessons in my journey as a designer.

My education, combined with my personal exploration of the arts, has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to work across both traditional and digital mediums. I am excited to take on new challenges that push the boundaries of design and creativity. I’m committed to approaching my career with professionalism, thoughtfulness, and dedication. While I am proud of how far I’ve come, I am even more excited about the possibilities ahead. I hope to continue growing my skills and exploring even more aspects of design.

For me, design is more than just creating visuals. It is about crafting meaningful experiences that resonate with people. Every project is an opportunity to connect, inspire, and make a difference. Design is not just a career; it is a way to tell stories, share ideas, and ultimately, make the world a little more beautiful.
