Elyse Martin

Hello, my name is Elyse Martin, and I’ve spent the past three years studying Graphic Design at Canadore College, although I was born and raised in Southern Ontario. Before pursuing my studies, I had little to no experience with graphic design, which made my journey into this field both challenging and exciting. It was a leap into something completely new, and I quickly developed a passion for it. Throughout my time at Canadore College, I’ve had the opportunity to learn various aspects of design, from digital illustrations and posters to experimenting with photography, especially capturing landscapes and nature. Working with tools like Adobe Illustrator and InDesign has allowed me to develop a creative skill set that I’m eager to continue building upon.

While I’ve enjoyed exploring design, my future goal is to transition into a career as a real estate agent. I see this as the perfect blend of my passion for design and my interest in working with people. I believe that combining my graphic design skills with real estate will give me a unique edge in promoting both myself and property listings to potential clients. My aim is to create visually compelling marketing materials that stand out in a competitive market. As technology continues to evolve, I’m excited to keep refining my skills and learning new techniques. With the ever-changing design tools and features that are constantly being developed, I look forward to staying ahead of trends and discovering innovative ways to incorporate design into my real estate work.

Over the past three years as a Graphic Design student at Canadore College, I have had the opportunity to apply my skills in various freelance projects under the name EM Designs. Throughout this time, I have gained valuable experience by designing a range of projects, including social media posts for Canadore Sport and Wellness, and creating a personal brand for a client. These experiences have allowed me to grow both technically and creatively, expanding my knowledge of design principles while honing my ability to work with clients to bring their ideas to life. Each project has been an exciting challenge, from visualizing concepts to refining designs that effectively communicate the message. Freelancing has provided me with the freedom to experiment with different styles and explore how design can be used in various contexts, all while building my own portfolio and reputation as a designer.

Some of my personal interests, like camping, hiking, photography, and athletics, have heavily influenced my design style. I have always had a deep admiration for traveling and road trips, and one of my biggest dreams has been to own a Volkswagen Westfalia and travel across Canada in it. This aspiration has been a driving force behind many of my designs, where I incorporate elements of the outdoors, adventure, and the open road. I love using design to capture the essence of wanderlust, blending natural landscapes with bold and inviting visuals. Through my work, I strive to express my passion for the outdoors by thoughtfully selecting colours, fonts, images, and patterns that evoke a sense of exploration. EM Designs is not only about fulfilling design and branding needs but also about sharing a passion for creativity that resonates with those who seek unique and personal designs that tell a story. Whether you need a logo, a social media campaign, or an entire brand identity, EM Designs is here to bring your vision to life with a touch of artistry and adventure.
