Devyn Decarufel
Heyo!
My name is Devyn Decarufel. From an early age, my sister and I have always watched animated shows and movies - we preferred it over live action unless they involved CGI to show a more surreal world. We grew up on practically just animated media!
You name it - spongebob, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Rise of the Guard-ians... safe to say that I am a child at heart.
Instead of being invested in teenage drama movies or shows, I would be more eager to see an announcement by Disney and Pixar and all of those large animation companies when they dropped trailers for their new amazing animated films. Then came the discovery of anime, which was such a huge inspiration for almost everything I thought about onward. The art style of anime is so intriguing and gives room for a lot of creative character designs that I aspire to do! I have also always watched my sister draw every day, and by watching, my interest grew more and more with each passing year. She always helped me focus my decision-making as well as gave me more confidence in the anatomy of the art I drew.
After so many years of this, I decided I wanted to be creative just like my sister, so I enrolled in the Digital Cinematography course as I enjoyed recording and editing YouTube videos. Unfortunately, it wasn't what I had hoped for so I dropped out after a full year. After a year break, I decided to go into Graphic Design. It is the best choice I've made, I get to learn so many creative things from videography to animation, and even use my illustrations in my designs! After a year and a half into the course, I've been more sure that I enjoy drawing, editing, and animations! My journey is all thanks to the friends I've made along the way and an even bigger thanks to my amazing sister for inspiring me and helping me grow, being my teacher and just being there for me.
Thank you!
